Rouart, Medeleine 1896-1986
From a privileged social class and surrounded in her youth by many of the great names in French art, Daumier, Manet, Degas,
Morisot and many others. Her father, Henri Rouart was a great patron of the Arts and painted with Millet and Corot.
She first exhibited in 1923 at the largest gallery in Paris, the Bernheim-Jeune. She travelled and painted extensively in France and
Italy; her landscapes, the architecture and flowers reflect the light and colors of the regions.
Her works have a remarkable easiness in their composition, the use of warm color link her to the work of the Impressionists while
her style is unique and personal. A painting by Madeleine is identifiable by the clarity of the composition, often in the shape of an
overturned " V " and by the precision of her touch and the encircling of the form. |
